What We Built in Dymesty 2.0 — And Why We Built It

On May 27, we shipped Dymesty 2.0. This wasn't a routine patch or a minor polish — it was a ground-up rethinking of how our AI glasses work, driven entirely by what our first wave of users told us after living with the product day in, day out.

We want to be straightforward about something: Version 1.0 shipped with real limitations. Some features didn't connect the way they should have. Some workflows were more frustrating than they needed to be. We know this because you told us — through support tickets, through app reviews, through direct emails to our team. Every piece of that feedback made it into a shared document that our engineering team reviewed weekly. Version 2.0 is what came out of that document.

Here's exactly what changed, and why.

Recording That Actually Remembers

The number one request from early users was simple: I recorded a meeting, now I can't find the one thing I need from it. Fair point.

In 1.0, recordings were stored chronologically with AI-generated summaries, but there was no way to search across them, no way to fix a misidentified speaker name after the fact, and no way to dig into a specific recording without replaying it.

2.0 changes this completely. You can now fully edit any transcript — fix errors, replace speaker names across the entire text with a single tap, and re-generate the AI summary after your edits. A new Historical Record Search lets you type a keyword and pull up every recording where that term appears, across your entire archive. And if you need more than a keyword, you can open an AI Q&A chat directly from any recording: ask it what was said about the budget, who committed to which action item, or just get a two-sentence recap. The recording module went from a capture tool to a searchable knowledge base. If you've been comparing wearable meeting devices, this is the update that changes the calculus.

Translation That Stops Asking You What Language You're Hearing

In 1.0, starting a translation session required you to manually select the source language before the AI could do anything. In a real conversation — at a conference, at a restaurant abroad, in a meeting where someone unexpectedly switches to their native language — stopping to pick a language from a dropdown is the opposite of seamless.

2.0 introduces Auto Language Detection. The AI now identifies the source language on its own and begins translating without manual input. Completed translations now include audio playback of the original captured audio alongside AI-generated summaries of the translated content, so you can go back and verify what was actually said. The same Historical Search and AI Q&A features from the recording module are available here too — you can search past translations by keyword and ask follow-up questions about any translated session. A Calendar That Talks to Your Calendar

Most people manage their time across at least three separate calendars: one in Google, one in Outlook for work, and a third sitting in their phone's native app. Switching between them — or manually re-entering the same event in multiple places — is the kind of friction that compounds quietly until someone misses something important. Dymesty 1.0 made this worse, not better. The Schedule Assistant existed as a standalone calendar inside the Dymesty app, completely siloed from everything else. It didn't sync with Google Calendar. It didn't sync with Outlook. It didn't sync with your phone's local calendar. And when you asked the Intelligent Assistant about your schedule, it couldn't see what was in the Dymesty calendar either — two features that should have worked together simply didn't. Version 2.0 fixes this at the foundation.

In 2.0, the Schedule Assistant syncs with Google Calendar, Outlook, and local device calendars. You can create events with reminders, navigate to today's date, and see all of your commitments in a single view. The Intelligent Assistant can now access this consolidated schedule, so when you ask "what do I have this afternoon," you get a real answer.

An Assistant That Keeps Up

The Intelligent Assistant in 1.0 worked, but response times and accuracy varied enough that some users stopped relying on it. We spent significant engineering effort in 2.0 on optimizing response speed and accuracy for the most common use cases: checking your schedule, quick factual queries, setting reminders, and general conversational AI. The assistant now supports voice input across personal, professional, and daily scenarios. It's not perfect yet — no voice AI is — but it's meaningfully faster and more reliable than what shipped in 1.0.

The Smaller Fixes That Add Up

Beyond the headline features, 2.0 addresses several experience-level issues that generated consistent support tickets:

Phone Loss Alert was a feature that didn't perform reliably enough in 1.0. The concept — your glasses alert you when your phone is more than 8 meters away — is useful, but the positioning accuracy and response speed fell short. In 2.0, we rebuilt the detection engine with improved calibration. When you reconnect your glasses after a disconnection, the app now walks you through automatic calibration. Manual calibration with step-by-step instructions is also available for anyone who wants tighter precision.

Bluetooth Permission Guidance caused confusion during initial setup, especially for users who declined a permission prompt and then couldn't figure out why their glasses weren't connecting. 2.0 introduces context-aware permission requests, clearer explanatory messages when Bluetooth is disabled, and secondary guidance flows for users who need to re-enable access.

Background Status Display now shows a persistent visual indicator — through iOS Live Activities and Android foreground services — so you always know when a recording or translation session is active. No more wondering whether the glasses are still capturing audio.

User Feedback Collection has been streamlined. If something goes wrong, the feedback process is now faster and the diagnostic logs we receive are more detailed, which means we can identify and fix issues more quickly.

Why We Don't Have a Camera — And Why That Matters More Now Than Ever

We made a deliberate design decision from day one: no camera. This wasn't a cost-cutting measure, and it wasn't a limitation we plan to "fix" in a future version. It was — and remains — a core product philosophy. We've written about why camera-free is the smarter choice before — and the argument has only gotten stronger since then.

Dymesty AI Glasses are built for environments where trust matters. Conference rooms. Hospital floors. Courtrooms. Classrooms. International business meetings where local recording laws vary by country. In all of these settings, a camera on your face creates friction — questions about consent, concerns about policy compliance, and the simple social discomfort of not knowing whether you're being recorded.

Without a camera, Dymesty glasses are just glasses. IT departments don't need to run a security review before approving them. You don't get asked to take them off when you walk into a meeting. You can wear them in a school, a clinic, a government building, or a friend's living room without anyone wondering what you're capturing.

In 2026, this matters more than it did when we started. The conversation around wearable cameras and personal privacy has intensified significantly, and we believe the market is moving toward a clearer split between camera-equipped devices for content creation and camera-free devices for professional productivity. Dymesty sits firmly on the productivity side of that line — and 2.0 makes the productivity capabilities substantially stronger.

What Comes Next

We're not done. Our roadmap includes faster assistant response times, expanded offline language support, deeper enterprise calendar integration, and continued refinement of every feature based on what you tell us. Every update we ship starts with the same shared document: real feedback from real users.
